Two days after watching love, Simon and unsurprisingly, I have thought about it again. It’s another teen movie that plays on the idea of being predictable by starting off with a monologue about how normal Simon is, while simultaneously anulling that by revealing he has a big secret, which I cannot comment on how easy this was to guess since my friends were raving on about how gay this film was a few months ago! But the big mystery was one that kept me guessing till the end! However, it becomes another loveable film that has great character development and is one of the first mainstream teen films that centralises around a gay love story!
The only fault I can think of is how quickly both Simon accepts who Blue is and kisses him, whilst having thought of others as Blue before him. Mind you, I can’t say that I would have acted any differently after talking to someone for a few weeks/months.
ps. I wasn’t going to spoil this film, but after looking up gifs they’re all spoilers anyway so I’m gonna go ahead an use one. ;)
